Qualifying matches are introduced first time in 2011 CL T20 tournament. 3 qualifiers will reach the group stage. Top 2 teams from each group will reach semi-finals.

 

2011 CL T20 qualifiers: (September 19-21)

 

Pool A: Kolkata Knightriders, Auckland Aces (New Zealand) & Somerset.

 

Pool B: Trinidad & Tobago, Ruhunu (Sri Lanka) & Leicestershire Foxes. Trinidad & Tobago won the both games and qualified to main draw.

CLT20 Format: 5 teams in each group play against each other in a roundrobin format. Top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

 

 

Highlights:

 

1. 3 IPL teams and 2 T20 teams each from Australia and South Africa directly qualified to group stage of 2011 Champions League. But, England T20 teams need to play in qualifiers.

 

2. Almost all star cricketers opted to play for IPL teams in stead of their home teams. New South Wales, Warriors and Trinidad & Tobago lost crucial players to IPL teams.

 

3. Nokia is the title sponsor of 2011 Champions League T20 Cricket.

    i think chennai is a grt fielding side….
    in t20 geberally the team wid nice fielding is always the champion..over n above this there is ms dhoni to look after it…so i vote for chennai super kings…
