CL T20 Cricket match preview: October 11

Sunday’s games in the Twenty20 Champions League see New South Wales take on Sussex and the Delhi Daredevils look to avoid elimination from the tournament when they meet Wayamba. Both the games will take place in Delhi and we take a look at matche preview. New South Wales Blues v Sussex Team: Time and Venue: 10:30 GMT, Delhi The New South Wales Blues will take on the Sussex Sharks in the T20 Champions League on 11th of October. The Blues started with a flier after marking an emphatic 53-run win against the Diamond Eagles in their previous match. That win came on this same ground and Simon Katich’s side will benefit from having experienced the conditions. Katich himself top scored with 53 off 41 balls as NSW posted 144. Stuart Clark with 3 wickets for just 12 runs was chief destroyer as The Eagles made just 91 in the chase. This terrific victory has kept the side boiling with confidence and rising with positive energy, which will be conspicuous in their next encounter with the Sussex Sharks as well. Simon Katich and David Warner displayed some splendid batting performance that eventually led the NSW Blues to clinch their first victory in the league. On the other hand, it will be the first match for the Sussex Sharks in the Champions League and they will take heart from the performance of fellow English challengers Somerset, who beat Deccan in Hyderabad on Saturday. The side has an impressive lineage. Michael Yardy leads the side which includes the likes of Dwayne Smith, Luke Wright and Yasir Arafat, all of whom can be more than useful in this format on their day. It’s also a big tournament for the young spinner Piyush Chawla who has plenty of talent. The side has been quite successful in the longer version of the game. In the T20 version the Sharks though have not come up with good performances and the match against the Australia’s Blues will be a tough one for the English cricket team. And the fact that the Blues’ previous victory has boosted their morale the Sharks might find it difficult to face the opposition in such a form. The scales weigh much towards the Blues and the Sharks … [Read more...]

CL T20 Cricket match previews: October, 12

Monday’s games in the Twenty20 Champions League see Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Otago and Somerset will meet Trinidad and Tobagothe. Both the games will be played on M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Group: A - Somerset v Trinidad and Tobago: Time and Venue: 16:00 local -10:30 GMT, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Somerset was surprise winners over the Deccan Chargers in their opening game and another win here will see them top the group. Alfonso Thomas was the Somerset hero with his 30 runs off 17 deliveries seeing Somerset home off the final ball for a thrilling one wicket win. It was a tremendous match and a great performance from Somerset against one of the tournament favourites. Though, Somerset defeated Deccan Chargers in their first match by one wicket on Saturday. But they have struggled for a good partnership against Chargers, none of their top and middle order batsmen looked like taking the responsibility. Somerset could consider them lucky to escape with a win. This is out first look at Trinidad and Tobago who are led by Daren Ganga. Watch out for the Bravo brothers who along with Denesh Ramdin and Lendl Simmons return to action after missing the recent West Indian matches due to a player / administration dispute. Somerset move on from Hyderabad to Bangalore with the significant advantage of having a game, and a win under their belts. That said, Trinidad have played a warm match at this ground which they won comfortably and their big players may not be quite as rusty as feared after so little competitive cricket lately. The only match played here so far saw 180 posted and successfully chased down so we could be in for a good contest. I think Somerset can beat the T and T.  Group C - Royal Challengers Bangalore v Otago: Tme and Venue: 20:00 local -14:30 GMT, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The Royal Challengers Bangalore and Otago square up in what is effectively an eliminator as far as qualification from the group is concerned. The Cape Cobras are already through as group winners having beaten both of these sides. It is a virtual knockout match … [Read more...]
